RoHS3 / REACH Compliance

Fotofab is able to produce both RoHS3 and REACH compliant parts upon request.

Raw Metal Parts: Fotofab LLC is a chemical etching company that does not melt or produce any of the materials it uses. The chemical etching process starts with sheets of metal that are purchased from suppliers or supplied by customers.

Parts are then produced by selectively dissolving metal from the raw metal sheets utilizing a series of processes. The chemical composition of the raw metal sheets is not changed by the chemical etching process. The surface and etched edges of the parts are exposed to chemicals such as acids, surfactants, dry film photoresists, dry film stripper solutions, and etching solutions.

Best to our knowledge, all of these chemicals are cleaned and rinsed off from the parts. Our raw sheet metal vendors have determined that the products sold to Fotofab LLC do not exceed allowed levels of substances listed under RoHS compliant photo etching directive and do not contain any Substances of Very High Concern above their respective thresholds.

Therefore, Management concludes that parts produced by Fotofab LLC are compliant with European Directive 2011/65/EU including Directive Amendment 2015/863/EU also known as RoHS3 and are compliant with Article 59(10) of the REACH Regulation for the Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern for Authorization.

Metal Parts with Additional Plating, Soldering or Coating: If parts supplied by Fotofab LLC require secondary operations as specified on the blueprints, then Management may not be able to provide a generic statement of RoHS/REACH compliancy.

Sometimes the blueprint requirements include plating, soldering or other operations that may not be RoHS/REACH compliant. If RoHS and/or REACH compliance is required per customer print or purchase order, Management will take every precaution to follow those requirements.

Management can supply compliancy statement letters specific to the parts after confirming certificates from secondary operations.

Updates to Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern: European Chemical Agency frequently updates the list by adding new substances. Management continuously monitors the list and whenever there is an addition will review our chemical etching process chemistries and also ask our raw metal vendors to review the new additions.

This is a lengthy process that requires multiple inputs. Please allow Fotofab 90 days to review new updates to REACH Candidate List.
