Soldering & Welding

Fotofab manufactures sheet metal components and then offers value-added services, like soldering and welding services, to make your one-stop shopping experience seamless. These services are only available for parts we produce in-house.

Soldering: Seam, Edge, and Through Hole

Soldering is the process of joining two or more pieces of metal by melting a third metal or alloy between them. This is a low-temperature option in which the filler or solder is melted between two pieces of metal, creating a bond when cooled. Both seam soldering and assembly joining capabilities are available.

Welding: Spot, MIG, and TIG

Welding is the process of joining two or more pieces of metal by applying high heat to melt the base metals together. This method of joining metals is generally considered the strongest fusion technique. Welding is a science but the welding of very thin sheet metal, without destroying or marking it, is more of an art form.

Fotofab can provide spot-welding, MIG, and TIG welding services on parts that we produce. We often design and build fixturing in our own machine shop to supply to our welding vendors. This speeds up the production and vastly improves the accuracy of welds by holding the parts stationary in their correct formed dimensions as the weld is being created. Fotofab uses a number of welding suppliers in order to ensure rapid deliveries and the lowest prices we can find.
