Metal Etching

PrecisioFotofab’s chemical etching technology offers several benefits over traditional machining processes. Fotofab specializes in producing your parts by whatever means necessary.n Metal Forming

Metal Stamping

With metal stamping, a tool is used to both punch out the blank and form the part, and the process is completely automated. These tools can take several weeks to make, but once completed, parts can be made in a matter of seconds with production costs of a fraction of a penny per piece. Fotofab offers two types of stamping: progressive die and 4-slide:

Metal Finishing

Blackening - generally used to reduce reflectivity and/or for decorative purposes. Electropolishing - used to make part surfaces shiny and smooth by removing a few layers of atoms. Painting - fully or selectively paint your part. Passivating - primarily used for cleaning and descaling stainless steel parts. Plating - standard and precious metal platings available. Reaming - the process used to widen a hole that requires extremely tight tolerances. Tumbling - parts are mixed in a vibratory tumbler with a selected media. Custom Packaging - from bulk packed in sheets to detached and individually packaged.

Diffusion Bonding

The diffusion bonding process joins layers of sheet metal together. Thin sheets of metal are stacked together in a vacuum, then heated to 50-80% of the base material’s melting point while pressure is applied. This procedure of heating and applying pressure causes some of the electrons from each sheet of metal to migrate to its neighboring sheet until the stack is internally joined together.

Soldering & Welding

Fotofab manufactures sheet metal components and then offers value-added services, like soldering and welding, to make your one-stop shopping experience seamless. These services are only available for parts we produce in-house

Wire EDM

Fotofab utilizes Wire EDM both in the process of producing our hard tools for forming and stamping operations and in conjunction with photo-etching to produce an individual feature that cannot be produced by etching alone.
